Review Of: Dior and I
I just recently watched the amazing documentary Dior and I, so I thought I would do a review on my blog! Continue reading if you want to know a little more about the movie and hear how it was!
Summary of the film:
The film follows along with Raf Simons as he designs and puts together the Fall 2012 Haute Couture Collection for the House of Dior. Raf Simons only had 8 weeks to put together the entire collection so that's why this film is so interesting. The documentary really gives an inside look at how designers put together their beautiful collections, but also an inside look at the Couture Atelier for Dior. It also shows all the hard work and time that seamstresses and "Premiere-Mein" put into theses intricate Couture pieces.
My thoughts on the documentary:
I absolutely thought the idea behind this film was brilliant. I loved seeing, for the first time, a true, inside look behind Haute Couture runways/collections. As someone who hopes to be a part of the fashion industry, somewhat revolving around these subjects, it was amazing to see how designers put together entire collections and to see how much hard work atelier workers put into the pieces. It was nice to see the care and love that everyone involved in the process had for the designs and collection. As one woman said, it is bitter-sweet seeing the designs come down the runway but also having to say goodbye to the pieces. Also, it was a great film because you saw the designers and team put in a stressful situation, by only having 8 weeks to complete an entire Haute Couture collection. This part of the documentary really looped you in and made you want more.
Overall, this movie is definitely on my list of movies I would recommend to people I know. The production of the movie was amazing, and the whole plot was really cool to see in a film.
